Sandwiches. Schooners. Happy Days.
What more could you want?
Bonzer’s Sandwich Pub makes deciding where to congregate with family and friends a no-brainer. Ever since Jon and Cindy opened the doors to the Grand Forks, ND community in 1983 folks keep coming back to Bonzer’s to return to the merriment. We couldn’t get rid of our regulars if we tried; everyone just loves our house specialties, frosty beverages, and laid-back atmosphere.
If there’s one thing our Bar and Grill isn’t, it’s uptight and buttoned-up. Our food means business, but we don’t — we’re all friends here at Bonzer’s Sandwich Pub.

Keeping the Business in The Bonzer Family
About Bonzer’s Sandwich Pub
My parents opened their establishment in 1983 after graduating from the University of North Dakota. After working for them throughout undergraduate and law school, I took an opportunity to work abroad for a short stint. After my return to the states I decided that keeping the business in the family was extremely important to me, so we began a slow transition in 2012. As of 2020 I am the official owner, but still have the help of my entire family.
When you come to Bonzer’s you will be treated just as if you were walking into the Bonzer family home!”
Do Not Enter Bonzer’s Sandwich Pub If…

FAQs
What makes a Bonzer’s sandwich unique compared to typical sub shops in Grand Forks?
We build every sandwich to order using premium deli meats, artisan breads—from fresh marble rye and nine-grain to savory onion rolls—and our signature house sauces. Every full and half sandwich comes paired with local Red River Valley potato chips and our crisp dill pickles, delivering an authentic deli experience right in your neighborhood pub.
Can I get lunch quickly at Bonzer’s if I’m on a tight workday schedule?
Absolutely! We know lunch hours are short, which is why our sandwich and chili line is designed for swift turnaround. Whether you sit at the bar for a quick half-sandwich combo or call ahead for curbside pickup, we get you fresh, hot food without the long wait.
Why is Bonzer’s considered the ultimate Grand Forks game-day destination?
For decades, Bonzer’s has been the pre- and post-game hub for Fighting Hawks hockey, football, and regional sports. With plenty of screens, ice-cold pitchers, shell peanuts on every table, and a room full of spirited fans, there’s no better spot to catch the energy of game day in Grand Forks.
Do you accommodate custom bread choices and dietary preferences?
We gladly customize your order. Choose from our wide lineup of fresh breads—such as light caraway rye, pumpernickel, onion rolls, and flaky croissants—or make it meatless with our popular Meatless Monster loaded with cheeses and crisp veggies.
Are your hot subs served oven-toasted?
Yes! Items like our French Dip, Philly Dip, and Hot Pastrami feature steaming hot meats, savory au jus, and melted cheeses. If you prefer your bread extra toasted or your sandwich pressed hot, just let our team know when ordering and we will gladly tailor it to your liking.
What steps does Bonzer’s take to ensure every guest feels welcome and attended to?
Welcoming our guests like family is the heart of what we do. If we ever miss the mark or you feel overlooked during a rush, please speak directly with the on-duty manager or bartender. We are committed to making things right on the spot and ensuring your visit is enjoyable.
How late do you serve food?
The full menu is available until 10:00pm. After 10:00pm there are limited options.
What are the house specialty sandwiches that first-time guests must try?
You can’t go wrong with our legendary Beef Torpedo (sliced roast beef, horseradish chive cheddar, and tomatoes on a French roll), our classic Pastrami and Swiss, or a steaming French Dip served with hot au jus for dipping. Don’t forget a cup of our signature house chili on the side!
Is Bonzer’s kid- and family-friendly during daytime hours?
Yes! While we turn into a lively pub in the late evenings, daytime and early dinner hours are welcoming to guests of all ages. Families love our casual booths, customizable sandwich halves, and complimentary peanut baskets.
How does seating and ordering work when the pub is busy?
During peak rushes and game days, seating is open and first-come, first-served. You are welcome to grab any open table or seat at the bar! If our floor servers are tied up assisting other tables, feel free to step right up to the bar to place your drink and sandwich order immediately.
Why do some hot appetizers, like nachos, differ from standard sports-bar fare?
Bonzer’s operates as an authentic deli-style pub rather than a deep-fryer commercial kitchen. Our focus is on freshly carved deli sandwiches, slow-simmered beef, and homemade soups. We prepare our nachos with generous melted cheese and toppings, but we always encourage first-timers to explore our specialty toasted sandwiches and hot dips for the true Bonzer’s experience!
What should I do if a table has not been cleared when I sit down?
When the pub fills up fast before a puck drop, tables turn quickly. If you find an open booth that needs wiping, please let any bartender or team member know—we’ll have it cleared and sanitized for you right away.
Can I order food to-go if the bar is packed during an event?
Yes, you can skip the crowd by calling ahead or placing a takeout order online. We’ll package your sandwiches, chips, and sides so they’re ready for quick counter pickup, letting you enjoy your Bonzer’s favorites wherever you are.
Is there a fee to reserve the front room?
Before 5:00pm there is no fee. After 5:00pm there is a minimum $100 spend per hour reserved.
What are your hours?
We are open 11:00am – 2:00am daily. Sometimes, we close earlier if it isn’t busy.
